The BEF Run for Education is a fantastic, family friendly event for first time runners to expert athletes. Proceeds from this event benefit the Benicia Education Foundation, a volunteer-run, community-based, not for profit organization that helps fund library and technology programs in the Benicia Unified School District.
The course was professionally designed to highlight Benicia’s rich history by “On Your Mark Events.” All races start from the beautiful waterfront green at the end of First Street after an invigorating warm-up. Runners will pass historical sights such as the Capitol Building, Benicia Arsenal, Clock Tower and the newly renovated Commanding Officer’s Quarters. The 1 Mile Fun Run, open to kids 14 and under, runs along the waterfront green and everyone is a winner! All three courses will be professionally timed with volunteers along the way to cheer on our runners and pass out water.
A post-race celebration and awards ceremony will start after all runners cross the finish line. A Grand Prize Drawing will be held for two round-trip tickets on Continental Airlines. If you’re not a runner, but want to be part of the fun and support Benicia Public Schools, check out the Events or Volunteer tabs because there is something for everyone.
After the festivities, we would like to invite all participants to stay and enjoy a day in Benicia. With its great parks, restaurants, shopping, art, museums, marina and history everyone is sure to find something fun to do. Many local merchants will have special offers for you to enjoy.
